BIO:

Maya B Fury is a Canadian-American songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles, CA who fell in love with Brazilian music after living in Salvador, Bahia for 2 years. While in Brazil, Maya studied with Jana Vasconcellos (guitar), Messias Britto (cavaco) and Itamar Lima (percussion). Her live shows include covers of Brazilian hits, as well as Classic Rock and Pop songs with a Brazilian twist. Her bilingual originals weave infectious rhythms through catchy hooks and clever lyrics that tackle themes of love, death, and the global struggle for collective liberation.

In 2017, Maya released an EP with her all-women/non-binary band, Gringa, titled “Letters from A. Broad” after playing in several Latin fusion groups in San Francisco, including Sang Matiz, BrazilVox, and TropiCali.

Maya B Fury has a unique sound that transcends borders and challenges the status quo. Inspired by the Brazilian Tropicália movement, Maya B Fury aims to use music as both a balm for the soul and a call-to-action towards building a post-capitalist society that prioritizes care for each other and our planet.

SINGLES:

Maya's second single, “Violence Underneath", was written in the aftermath of the brutal and racist murder of Freddie Gray by Baltimore police in 2015. It explores how violence shows up in our daily lives and how protests in response to systemic injustice are inevitable. The single features Megha Makam on percussion and will be released in February 2026, with all proceeds going to the abolitionist organization Harriet Tubman Center in Los Angeles.

“A Moment to Breathe” is Maya B Fury's first single, which she mixed and mastered in addition to writing, performing, and recording all of the sounds. All proceeds from the streams/sales of the track are donated to the 805UndocuFund, which provides crucial support to immigrants in the Central Coast.
